American Theatre Project
Produced by Innocentia Inviolata, American Theatre Project is an invitation to explore American Realism. It was born in 2016 at the invitation of professor Émeline Jouve and the University of Toulouse–Jean Jaurès to imagine an event devoted to American Realism on stage and on screen.
On this occasion, Céline Nogueira, artistic director of the project, chose New York–based choreographer Fay Simpson and long-time creative partner of Innocentia Inviolata—as guest of honour , and curated a rich programme including a Lucid Body workshop in collaboration with the James Carlès Choreographic Center, a “Method Acting” weekend with La Cinémathèque de Toulouse, and an exceptional conversation with Fay Simpson, and Patrick Pezin hosted by Gilles Gonord at the bookstore Oh Les Beaux Jours. She also selected the guest artists for the scholarly day “Realism: Tradition or Transgression?”
Céline Nogueira renewed the experience in 2017 leading a research-creation workshop centred on Trifles by Susan Glaspell, in collaboration with the trainees of Innocentia Inviolata, as well as an acting & movement workshop conducted by James Carlès, Michel Mathieu, and Hans Echnaton Schano.
